Anna C. Kampwerth of Carlyle died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 108 years. She was born on February 12, 1902 in Little York, Wade Township/Clinton County to Henry and Katherine (Budde) Voss. Ann married Herman H. Kampwerth at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on April 25, 1922 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 1972.Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons: Maurice and Leonard Kampwerth; daughter-in-law: Dorothy (Haas) Kampwerth; infant daughter: Evelyn; sisters: Elizabeth Voss and Mary Kuhl; and brothers: Alloys and Ed Voss.Anna is survived by three daughters: Alice Kerkemeyer and husband Leo of Collinsville, Dolores 'Dodie' Blum and husband Fred of San Antonio, Texas and Sr. Annemarie, P.H.J.C. of East Chicago, Indiana; a daughter-in-law: Bertha Schrage of St. Rose; fourteen grandchildren: Geralyn Steinkamp, Craig Kampwerth, Gerene Gramlick, Sharon Knuf, Kent Kampwerth, Judy Rhodes, June Timmermann, Jill Boysha, Janice Mallioux, David, Alan, Donald, Gary and Mark Kerkemeyer; twenty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother: Joe Voss and wife Myrtle of Carlyle and two sisters: Rose Theising of Carbondale and Henrietta Peters of Florissant, Missouri.Anna farmed with her husband Herman on a farm three miles south of Beckemeyer for 33 years. They then moved to Carlyle. In 1992 she retired to the Carlyle Healthcare Center.Anna was a member of St. Anthony’s and St. Mary Altar Society, a volunteer at the Carlyle Healthcare Center, a member of the Carlyle Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Clinton County Home Extension and an Associate of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, bingo, playing pinochle and keeping up with the daily news.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. or on Friday from 8 to 10:30 A.M.Memorials are suggested to the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ or to Heartland Hospice, and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
