Clara L. Brandmeyer, 85, of New Baden, died Monday, June 8, 2009 in Carlyle, IL. She was born January 6, 1924 in Helvetia Twp., IL, daughter of Herman and Mary (Stoff) Ottensmeier. Clara is survived by the father of her children and dear friend, George Brandmeyer; her children, David (Diane) Brandmeyer of Carlyle, James (Donna) Brandmeyer of Collinsville, Pastor Gerry Brandmeyer of Belleville and Mary Ann (Dennis) Boyd of St. Charles, MO.; 10 grandchildren, David (Tammie) Brandmeyer of New Baden, Cheryl (Tom) Wright and Derek (Lori) Brandmeyer all of Trenton, Matthew Brandmeyer of St. Louis, MO., Alicia (Wally) Hooten of Prairie Du Rocher, IL., Jennifer (Chad) Frauenfelder of Collinsville, Nathan Brandmeyer of Swansea, Jessica (Fiance Bill O’Connell) Brandmeyer of Collinsville, Michael J. Boyd of St. Peters, MO. and Michelle Boyd of Chesterfield, MO.; 17 great grandchildren, Jacob, Austin, Ashleigh, Cameron, Jared, Kelsey (Clara’s best friend), Shelby, Emma, Claire Marie, Collin, Briar, Kaleb, Cecilia, Regan, Ashlee, Brittany and Chloe; a sister, Margaret Ottensmeier of Aviston; a sister-in-law, Viola Ottensmeier; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Ottensmeier and Francis Ottensmeier; and three sisters, Helen Ottensmeier, Mary Ottensmeier and Sally A. Ottensmeier. Clara was a member of St. George Parish and Altar Sodality and also a member of the Belleville Christian Church. She was a dietician for Clinton Manor Nursing Home in New Baden, IL. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Roger Karban officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or St. George Parish or Belleville Christian Church and will be received at the funeral home.
