Evelyn L. Wessel

Evelyn L. Wessel of Carlyle died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 78 years. She was born in Carlyle on December 4, 1930 the daughter of Theodore and Leonora (Hollenkamp) Schulte. On August 14, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois Evelyn married Gilbert Wessel and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1990.Evelyn is survived by two daughters: Amy Haar and husband Larry of Beckemeyer and Cynthia Knolhoff and husband Kevin of Carlyle; a son: Bryan Wessel and wife Julie of Carlyle; a sister: Shirley VanDorn of Ellisgrove, Illinois; five grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.Evelyn was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Evelyn was retired but had worked at the Wee Walker Shoe Company, Seiffert’s Meat Processing and Locker, and Bill and Bob’s Drive In- all in Carlyle. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Steven Sommerer officiating.The interment will follow in Carlyle Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. or on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of services.The family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home Which is serving the family
