James G. "Jim" Gallo, 77, of Breese, Ill. died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, in Breese. He was born on May 4, 1928 in Barnesboro, PA, son of James G. and Lena (Andreotti) Gallo. He married Genevieve A. "Jenny" Gerstner on May 6, 1950 in Aviston, Ill. and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Joseph Gallo of Penn Run, PA; two sisters, Lena Buratti and husband Aldo of Pittsburg, PA and Josephine Shutco and husband Paul of Indiana, PA; and one sister-in-law, Rose Marie Erwin of Lebanon, Ill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Gallo; two sisters, Rose Bernard and Frances Cunningham and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Mabel Gerstner. Mr. Gallo was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired Illinois State Trooper. He was a member of St. Augustine Parish and the Retired Illinois Troopers Association. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call on Sunday, August 28, 2005 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Monday, August 29, 2005 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
