Vernell H. Harem, 77, of Aviston, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at her home. She was born July 7, 1933 in Flora, daughter of Anthony and Helen (Schulte) Wieter. She married Allen E. Harem on June 23, 1956 at St. Francis Church in Aviston and he survives in Aviston. Also surviving are her children, Thomas (Sheryl) Harem of Troy, Ronald Harem of Aviston, Tina (Chris) Olson of Hebron, Barbara Maples of Mt. Olive, and Dennis (Jeanette) Harem of Gig Harbor, WA; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon Wieter of Jamestown, Cornell (Katherine) Wieter of Peoria, AZ, and James Wieter of Aviston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lupe Wieter of Belleville, Geraldine Krage of Winona, MN, David and Mary Lou Harem of Loveland, CO, Maureen Aldinger of Coon Rapids, MN, Joyce and Darrel Johnson of Lacrescent, MN, and Bruce and Jan Harem of Winona, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Bradley Harem; two brothers, Ralph Wieter and Jerome "Tojo" Wieter; two brothers-in-law, George Krage and Gaylord Aldinger; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Omer and Dorothy Harem. Mrs. Harem was a homemaker and in her earlier years worked at General American Insurance Company in St. Louis, MO. She was a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
