Evelyn B. Korte, 93, of Aviston, IL died Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL. She was born September 10, 1919 in Aviston, IL, daughter of August and Mary (VonLaar) Litteken. She married Lawrence Korte on September 12, 1945 in Aviston and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1967. Mrs. Korte is survived by a son, Robert (Carol) Korte of Keokuk, IA; daughter-in-law, Victoria Korte of Germantown, IL; seven grandchildren, Tami (Scott) Wilcox, Traci Korte, Matt (Maegan) Korte, Dean Korte, Tim (Gina) Korte, Mike (Janae) Korte, and Brad (fiancee, Kristi Becker) Korte; eight great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ethan, and Owen Wilcox, Makinley, Karson, Kailyn, Nolan and Payton Korte; two brothers, Edgar (Martha) Litteken of Aviston, IL and August (Shirley) Litteken of Springfield, Mo; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Litteken of Aviston, IL and Marie Litteken of Charleston, IL. She was anticipating the birth of another great-grandchild in May, 2013. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Korte on July 26, 2000; four brothers, Orville Litteken, Steven Litteken, Ralph Litteken, and Lavern Litteken; a sister, Ermalinda Kalmer; a brother-in-law, Erwin Kalmer; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine Litteken and Augusta Litteken. Mrs. Korte was a homemaker and a dairy farmer. She was also a housekeeper for St. Francis Parish for 20 years. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Altar Sodality in Aviston, IL and a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau. Evelyn’s hobbies were quilting, gardening, and playing cards and games. She loved being with family and friends and was part of the “lunch bunch”. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, IL with Rev. Dan Friedman, Msgr. James Buerster, Deacon Charles Litteken, and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown, IL. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston, IL. There will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish Building Fund or Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
