Albertus L. “Bert” Mank, 87, of New Baden, IL, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Clinton Manor in New Baden, IL. He was born in New Baden, IL January 12, 1918, son of William J. & Elenora (Lindner) Mank. He married Grace (Erwin) Singler May 28, 1962 in New Baden and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Clinton Erwin of Trenton, IL; sisters-in-law, Louise Mank of Troy, IL, Hazel Erwin of Trenton, IL; and several nephews & nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Mank; two sisters, Dorothy Dillon & Francelia Mank; brothers-in-law, Clifford Dillon, Frank Erwin, & Ralph Papproth; and sisters-in-law, Oletha Erwin, Dorothy Strotheide & Ruth Papproth. Until his retirement, Mr. Mank was a Fireman at Scott Air Force Base. He was a member of St. George Parish, American Legion Post 321, and was a former New Baden Volunteer Fireman. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany & France during WWII. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Monsignor Virgil Mank officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call Monday, June 27, 2005 from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Masses and will be received at the funeral home.
