George Rickhoff, 94, of Albers, IL, died on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Caring First in Breese, IL. He was born on October 7, 1911 in Germantown, IL, son of Joseph and Emma (Wobbe) Rickhoff. He married Alvina "Toots" Lakenburges on May 29, 1940 in Germantown, IL and she preceded in death on May 23, 1981. Surviving are his children, Dennis Rickhoff and wife Jeanette "Sis" of Albers, and Ruth Fritz and husband Robert of Mascoutah; six grandchildren, Brent & Stefanie Rickhoff, Kurt & Mindi Rickhoff, Robert & Michelle Fritz, Bryan Fritz, Stacy & Scott Ross and Anne Fritz; seven great-grandchildren, Emily Fritz, Lauren Ross, Allison Rickhoff, Brooke Rickhoff, Reagan Rickhoff, Carson Rickhoff and Lucas Leonhardt; two sisters-in-law, Edna Lakenburges of Germantown and Ceil Lakenburges of Marshal, MO. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Rickhoff; brothers, Ben (Sophia) Rickhoff & Henry (Frances Rickhoff), sisters, Ann (Frank) Fuehne, Marie (Ed) Eilering, & Clara (Hank) Ottenschnieder, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, John & Emma Lakenburges, Louis Lakenburges, Alphonse Lakenburges and Margaret & Ted Dall. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish, and a life member of the Clinton County Licensed Beverage Association. He was the owner and operator of Rickhoff’s Tavern in Albers before he retired. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at St. Bernard Church in Albers with Rev. Louis Koehr officiating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2005 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
