Ronald E. Johnson

Ronald E. Johnson, of New Baden, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville at the age of 61 years. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on February 19, 1956 the son of Edward and Jeanette (Wolters) Johnson and they survive in New Baden.

In addition to his parents, Ron is survived by his two daughters, Nicole (Mark) Knobeloch of Fredericktown, Mo and Kelli (Allen) Gilbert of New Baden; his son, Jason (Danielle Huegen) Johnson of Trenton; eleven grandchildren, Lathian Walthes, Tristen Casby, Kaitlynn, Jaron, Adelyn Knobeloch, and Jeff Wilkins, and Meghan, Tyler, Wyatt, and Emily Gilbert, Judd Johnson, and Anthony (Bryanne Dixon) Johnson; his sister, Doris (Jerry) Goodwin of Trenton, and his brother, Rick (Phyllis) Johnson of Mascoutah; as well as his former wife Angela Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his daughters Linda (Herzing) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was retired from The Monterey Coal Mine No. 2 in Albers. He was a proud member of UMWA Local 2295. During his retirement Ron enjoyed attending local auctions and collecting antiques and coins. Another of his hobbies was metal detecting and adding his interesting finds to his collections.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Deacon John Fridley officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
