Bernard H. Schaefer, 64, of Albers, IL died Monday, May 22, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital, Breese, IL. He was born June 26, 1941 in Albers, IL son of Henry F. "Jim" & Theresa (Heimann) Schaefer. He is survived by three brothers, Joseph (Mary) Schaefer of Guelph Ontario, Canada, Henry (Margaret) Schaefer of Atlanta, MO, & Richard Schaefer of St. Louis, MO; four sisters, Carolyn (Walter) Beer of Germantown, IL, Marcella Schaefer of Abilene, TX, Ann (Philip) Frey of Highland, IL & Rita (Paul) Thole of St. Rose, IL. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Vera L. (Richter) Schaefer, a nephew, Michael Frey & a niece, Melissa Schaefer. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish, Albers, IL & Clinton County Farm Bureau. He formerly worked at Haas Seed House, Albers, IL and was retired from Bassler Electric, Highland, IL. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. A memorial funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006 at St. Bernard Church, Albers, IL with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Private burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Albers, IL. Friends may call from 9 AM until 10 AM Saturday, May 27, 2006 at St. Bernard Church, Albers, IL. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or at Hempen Funeral Home.
