Dorothy C. "Dot" Thole, 87, of Breese, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born July 5, 1924 in Breese, daughter of Edward and Josephine (Jansen) Foppe. She married Fred Thole on February 27, 1946 at St. Augustine Church in Breese and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1972. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Rita) Thole of Germantown, TN, Diana (Carl "Sonny") Hemphill of St. Louis, MO, Mary Beth (Tim) Kreke of Crown Point, IN and Michael (Donna) Thole of Breese; seven grandchildren, Chad (Tracey) Hemphill, Kelly (Angie) Hemphill, Aaron (Nicole) Kreke, Amie (Michael) Bourne, Keith Thole, Josh (Kathryn) Thole and Jeremy Thole; granddaughter-in-law, Chrissy Kreke; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah and Justin Hemphill, Emma, Livvy and Mary Caroline Bourne, Joseph and Christopher Hemphill, and Camden Thole; a brother, Edward "Flip" (Joan) Foppe of Breese; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Foppe of Breese. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Shane Kreke; brothers and sisters, Irene Von Hatten, Leona Lampe, Clementine Imming, Rev. Cyril Foppe, OMI, Ferd Foppe and Elmer Foppe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed Von Hatten, Ben Lampe, Wendell Imming, Irene Foppe, Tony and Clara Thole and Clem Thole. Mrs. Thole was a retired secretary for the Clinton County Circuit Clerk. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and St. Monica Sodality; the American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary in Breese; the Trenton VFW Post 7983 Auxiliary; Catholic Holy Family Society and the Hardee Girls. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The American Legion Auxiliary will visit at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Parish, All Saints Academy or to Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
