Adele Jansen, 96, of Albers, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at The Villas at St. James in Breese. She was born May 21, 1920 in Albers, daughter of William and Clara C. (Beckmann) Korte. She married Raymond A. Jansen on May 21, 1946 in Albers and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2008.
Mrs. Jansen is survived by her children, David (Dolores) Jansen of Tulsa, OK., Marilyn (Mike) Buscher of Aviston, Patricia (Linus) Wessel of Trenton, William “Bill” Jansen of Mason, IN., Charles “Chuck” (Diane) Jansen of Overland Park, KS., and Glennon Jansen and Geri (Fred) Schmidt all of St. Louis, MO.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta (Edwin) Trame of Breese, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lou Korte of St. Rose, Wilbert Timmermann of Breese, Arlene Korte of Damiansville, Norbert Jansen of Albers, Marie Jansen of Aviston, Edmund & Norma Jansen of Albers, and Marie Straeter of St. Rose.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Jansen; a daughter, Barbara Jansen; a sister, Dorothy Timmermann; three brothers, Alfred, Wilbert, and Louis Korte; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Martha & Aloys Varel, Estelle & Alois Heimann, Albert J. & Catherine Jansen, Valerie Korte, Sister Eulogia Jansen, Leo & Henrietta Jansen, Clara & Robert Schachner, Vincent Jansen, Larry Straeter, and Louis Jansen in infancy.
Mrs. Jansen was a seamstress for the Martha Manning Garment Factory in Mascoutah. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1026 in Albers, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718. Adele enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting, baking, cooking, and playing cards. She treasured her eight years of friendships with the residents and staff at The Villas at St. James.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Rev. Anthony Onyango officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers.
Memorials may be made to the Mater Dei High School, St. Bernard Parish, or the Ray & Adele Jansen Charitable Fund (Make checks payable to Schwab Charitable Fund) and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
