Agnes T. (nee Fuhler) Huelsmann, 94, of Breese, IL, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024 at Cedarhurst in Breese. She was born August 24,1930 in St. Rose, IL, a daughter of Bernard “Ben” and Rose (nee Haar) Fuhler. Agnes married Wilbert Huelsmann on September 6, 1950 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose, IL, and they shared 67 years of marriage before his passing on September 7, 2017.

Surviving are her children Diane (Tom) Honerkamp of Olathe, KS, Dennis (Phyllis) Huelsmann of Breese, Janet (Paul III) Greenwood of Waterloo, IL, Joan Adams of Belleville, IL, Allen Huelsmann (Nancy Courtaway), Mark (Lisa) Huelsmann, and Mary Kay (Jim) Wiegmann, all of Breese. She has 18 grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Long of Olathe, KS, Matt (Abby) Honerkamp of Berkeley, CA, Catrina (Carl) Vandeloo and Elisha (Corey) Behrman of Bartelso, IL, Linette (Tony) Bishop of Jacksonville, FL, Diana Greenwood of Godfrey, IL, Paul IV (Karen) Greenwood, and Sarah (Jon-Michael) Smith of St. Louis, Jake (Emily) Adams of St. Louis, Justin (Laura) Adams of Lexington, KY, Ryan (Tommi) Huelsmann of Advance, MO, Jonathan Huelsmann of Collinsville, IL, Grant (friend Rachel Ringgenberg) Huelsmann of St. Louis, Abby (Jordon) Timmermann of St. Rose, IL, Nick (Britny) Huelsmann of Breese, Ben (Shaye) Wiegmann of Nashville, IL, Mitchell (Rachel) Wiegmann of St. Rose, IL and Emily Wiegmann of Breese.

Agnes has 25 great-grandchildren including Ethan and Emma Long, Remy Honerkamp, Brandon (Emelie) Vandeloo and Brittney (friend Jordan Kampwerth) Vandeloo, Bryce and Nate Behrman, Bridgette and Juliette Bishop, Millie Smith, Ellie and Logan Adams, Henry, William and Michael Adams, Hadley, Hazel and Hudsyn Huelsmann, Briar, Gracyn and Noa Timmermann, Annie and Emmie Huelsmann and Kollyns and Baby Wiegmann. Agnes is also survived by 2 great-great grandchildren Palmer and Genevieve Vandeloo, a sister Helen Timmermann, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jane Fuhler, Kathleen Huelsmann, Bernard (Irene) Huelsmann and Richard Huelsmann.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Elisha Behrman, parents Ben and Rose Fuhler, sister Clara Rakers, brothers John Fuhler, Theodore Fuhler, Vic Fuhler and Bernard Fuhler, father-in-law and mother-in-law Theodore and Wilhelmina (nee Homann) Huelsmann and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Rakers, Bertha Fuhler, Sally Fuhler, Stan Timmermann, Ralph and Theodora Wilke, Robert Huelsmann and Roger Huelsmann.

Agnes farmed with her husband on their dairy, poultry and grain farm for nearly 40 years. In addition to being generous and welcoming, Agnes was conscientious and very proud of meticulously maintaining her home and farm. She was a member of the St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, the Altar Sodality and the Resurrection Choir. Besides quilting and playing cards, she particularly liked attending her grandchildren’s activities. Agnes and Wilbert also enjoyed polka music and dancing. Together they left a legacy that valued hard work, community ties, and time spent with family.

Many thanks to the caring staff of Cedarhurst of Breese for their support for the last year and half. Thanks also to Residential Hospice for their caring services.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Breese, with Monsignor John Myler officiating. Interment will follow at St Dominic’s/St Augustine’s Cemetery in Breese. 

Visitation will take place at Nordike Funeral Home in Breese on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm and again on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers and other gifts, memorials can be made to St Dominic’s Catholic Church, Mater Dei Catholic High School, or Cedarhurst of Breese Activity Fund and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 150 N. Clinton St., Breese, IL 62230.
