Eleanor Z. Ahner-Winkler, 95, of New Baden, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. She was born February 28, 1911 in Phoenix, AZ, daughter of Theodore P. and Marie (Kirchoff) Bopp, Jr. She married Theodore Paul Ahner on April 28, 1934 in Kirkwood, MO and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1961. She married Elmer H. Winkler on May 1, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1967. She is survived by a son, Eldon Ahner and wife Elvira "Pinky" of New Baden, one step son, Forrest Winkler and wife Marj of Albany, Oregon; three grandchildren, Stacia Crabtree and husband Terry, Joye Kansal and husband Ajay, Ted Ahner and wife Dawn; three step grandchildren, Janice, Jean and Joanne; seven great grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Louise Clark. Mrs. Ahner-Winkler operated Ahner Florist in New Baden with her husband Theodore, and was also a hairdresser and a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Altar Guild in Mascoutah and the New Baden Senior Citizens. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah with Rev. Kirk Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah and will be received at the funeral home.
