Alan F. Netemeyer, age 67, passed away on December 7, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. Born on March 6, 1956, in Highland, IL, Alan was the son of Elmer G. Netemeyer and Jane (nee Goestenkors) Netemeyer.
He spent many years working as a salesman at Aviston Lumber Company in Aviston and Mascoutah and TBH Lumber in Carlyle. Alan also worked as a forklift operator at Nascote in Nashville. His commitment to his craft and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work, Alan had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. He had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing delicious meals for his friends and family. Gathering around the table with loved ones brought him great happiness.
Alan also found solace in watching Westerns, immersing himself in the thrilling stories set amidst sweeping landscapes. It provided him with an opportunity to relax and be transported to another time.
Playing Euchre was one of Alan's favorite pastimes. His competitive spirit shone through as he engaged in friendly matches with friends and family. The camaraderie shared during these games created cherished memories.
A lover of all things antique, Alan enjoyed spending time exploring flea markets and shops in search of unique treasures. His keen eye for quality craftsmanship made each find even more special.
During quiet moments of reflection, Alan took comfort in savoring a Busch beer paired perfectly with a Parliament cigarette. These simple pleasures were small indulgences that brought him peace and relaxation.
In addition to his hobbies, Alan had a special place in his heart for animals. He found great joy in spending time with his grand-dogs, embracing their companionship and unconditional love. Their presence provided him with comfort throughout the years.
Alan's memory will forever be treasured by his surviving family. He leaves behind his mother, Jane Netemeyer; his children, Brittney (Aaron) Dixon and Alan "AJ" Netemeyer; his step-children, Jennifer (James) Phillips and Amanda (Mark) Griese; his step-daughter-in-law, Alicia Uhring; his grandchildren: Hunter & Kaden Netemeyer and Andrew Dixon; step-grandchildren, Alexis & James Phillips, Addison Bruni, and Braxton & Arlyn Uhring; his sister, Peggy (Mike) Pheney; and his brother-in-law, James G. Rakers. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Elmer G. Netemeyer; his step-son, Kyle Uhring; and his sister, Joan Rakers.
In honor of Alan's memory, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Clinton County Humane Society, as Alan had a deep connection with animals.
