Albert Koch

July 9, 1932 — March 25, 2016

Albert Koch, age 83 of Carlyle passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. Albert was born in Neuss, Germany on July 9, 1932 the son of Heinrich and Margareta (Buescher) Koch. He lived in Germany until 1953 before moving to the United States. Once Albert was established he sent for his fiancé Wilhelmine Scholzen to join him in American. They were married on June 18, 1955 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval and she survives in Caseyville.

Mr. Koch is also survived by his daughter, Marlo Nachtweih and husband Steven of St. Louis; his son Kevin Koch and wife Lea of Belleville; and Opa’s little buddies, his grandsons Seth and Benjamin Koch.

Albert was preceded in death by his daughters: Darla Koch and Christa Koch; his brother: Hans Koch and wife Annie; his sister: Maria Semmelhack; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Wilma & Van Schlueter.

Mr. Koch worked as an auto body repairman and steel fabricator before retiring in 2002. He loved to be outside and tinker in his garage as well as garden. He was known for his great since of humor and was always joking with everyone one he knew. After retirement Albert took an interest in woodworking. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made in honor of Albert to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
