Agnes C. "Aggie" Altgilbers, 88, of Albers, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born August 29, 1921 in Breese, daughter of Ben and Anna (Luebke) Book. She married Norbert F. "Ally" Altgilbers on June 3, 1947 in Albers and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Adele Gerling of Germantown and Marie Lager of Albers; one brother, Tom (Vickie) Book of Belleville; sisters-in-law, Alice Book and Mary "Snooky" Book Loepker, both of Albers, Catherine B. Lampe of Washington, MO and Martha Altgilbers of Aviston; she is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ferd Book, Ray Book, Benedict "Dick" Book, and Lawrence Book; three sisters, Marcella M. Vosholler, Eleanor Voss and Bernadine Haake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernice Book, Martha Book, Linus H. "Fuzzy" Vosholler, Leander Voss, Ervin Gerling, Leroy Haake, Andy Lager, Marcellus "Ceaser" Altgilbers, Roman Altgilbers, Bernard Lampe and Adeline & Edward Wilken. Mrs. Altgilbers was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality in Albers and a 42 year member and former president of the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and quilting. Funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
