Roy Lee Anderson, 55, of New Baden, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at John Cochran Veteran’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born April 7, 1951 in Rantoul, son of Oscar and Louise (Michl) Anderson. He married Rose M. Devine on December 24, 2002 in New Baden and she survives in New Baden. In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother, David Anderson and wife Barbara of Collinsville; four sisters, Diane Gordon of Lakeland, FL, Doris Anderson of Des Pere, Mo, Jennie Pace of Nashville, Sandra Bakay and husband Edward of Naples, FL; his father-in-law, Herman Devine of Trenton; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Andrew & Susie Devine of Trenton, Martin & Susan Devine of Braidwood, Donald Devine and his special friend Carolyn of Belleville, Richard & Cathy Devine of Wappingers Falls, NY, Michael Ealey and wife Carol of Marshall, IN; and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Steven Pace and his mother-in-law, Thelma Devine. Roy was a cashier at CC Food Mart in O’Fallon. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He earned a bachelors degree in 1981 from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the American Legion Post 321 in New Baden. He was a civil war enthusiast. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 and from 8 a.m. until time of service on Friday, September 8, 2006 at the funeral home. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
