Anna C. “Ann” Litteken, 92, of Aviston, died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born August 19, 1927 in Breese, the daughter of Edward H. and Philomena H., nee Huelsmann, Kniepmann. She married Orville F. Litteken April 9, 1947 in Trenton and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2005.
Ann is survived by her children, Paul (Ruth) Litteken of Aviston, Kathy Winter and Allan (Carla) Litteken all of Breese, and Dale E. (Judy) Litteken of Aviston; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Cocran, Julie (Nathan) Deien, Greg Litteken, Jan (Troy) Kapp, Brent Winter, Tracy (Jon) Pollmann, Jason (Krystal) Litteken, Ryan (Shanna) Litteken, Allyson (Nathan) Vandeloo, Austin (Jessica) Litteken, and Joshua (Lisa) Litteken; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Martha Bellm, Marcella Brendel, Bernadette Lechner, Rita Liening, and Jane (Stan) Niebur; and sisters-in-law, Marie Litteken, Pat Kniepmann, and Martha Litteken.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Glenn Winter; two sisters, Mary Hammer and Rose Sudholt, two brothers, Edward and Joseph Kniepmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, August & Shirley Litteken, Edgar Liening, Francis Lechner, Alfred Hammer, Owen Brendel, Bea Kniepmann, Clinton Bellm, Theresa Kniepmann, Bud Sudholt, Edgar Litteken, Lawrence & Evelyn Korte, Steve & Kathryn Litteken, Ralph & Agusta Litteken, Lavern Litteken, and Ermalinda & Erwin Kalmer.
Mrs. Litteken worked in the laundry department at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston, the American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary in Aviston and loved assisting them cook for funerals and weddings. Ann enjoyed sitting in her swing, visiting with friends, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and was always happy and smiling.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston.
Memorials may be made to Mater Dei High School or the Aviston American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 301 S. Clinton, Aviston, IL 62216 who is serving the family.
