Arnett, Kathleen

Kathleen F. "Kathy" Arnett, 61, of Breese, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at her home. She was born November 4, 1949 in Breese, daughter of Robert H. and Sophie M. (Schniers) Berndsen. She married David Arnett September 21, 1971 in Breese and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1975. She is survived by her daughter, Kristina (Mike) Slone of Sandoval; three grandchildren, Jace Slone, Cheyenne Slone and Preston Slone; her brothers and sisters, Robert J. (Mary) Berndsen of Breese, Rita (Dan) Niemeyer of Boulder, CO, Jane Toennies of Breese, Thomas (Phyllis) Berndsen of Breese, and Norma (Carson) Hempen of New Baden; her mother-in-law, Mary Swingle of Sebastian, FL and a sister-in-law, Kathy Smith of Converse, IN. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Slone; a brother-in-law, Joe Toennies and a nephew, Kurt Toennies. Kathy was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish in Breese. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Patrick Peter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to her grandchildren’s education fund and will be received at the funeral home.
