Joel Sylvester Baine, 73, of New Baden died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born October 1, 1932 in Green County, Arkansas, son of Bill and Maimie (Owens) Baine. He married Joyce Jones and they later divorced. He then married Zella Bailey and she preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, James Baine of Alton, IL, Steven Baine and wife Kay of Granite City, IL and Terry Baine and wife Pam of Bethalto, IL; three daughters, Carolyn Simon of Lumberton, TX, Pam Huber and husband Ed of Globe, AZ and Vicky Jo Baine of Wood River, IL; one brother, C.R. Baine of Paragould, Ark.; three sisters, Mary Whitney of Kansas City, MO, Martha Jean Adams of Muskegon, Mich. and Bertina Stallings of Johnborough, Ark; 18 grandchildren and his first wife Joyce Baine of Alton, IL. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Baine, two sisters, Doris Short and Earnestina Spillman and a granddaughter, Desira Baine. He was retired from Baine Pest Control in Hartford, IL which he owned for approximately 30 years. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Pastor David Manley officiating. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of service, Tuesday, May 16 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clinton Manor Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
