Barbara E. Thurman of Carlyle died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 75 years. She was born in St. Louis on August 13, 1936. Barbara married Bill Thurman on November 25, 1965 in Carlyle and he survives in Carlyle.
Barbara is also survived by her two daughters: Nancy Hill and husband Melvin of Hoffman and Lisa Knapp and special friend Mike Tate of Beckemeyer; two sons:
Jim Butler and wife Jan of Hoffman and Jesse Butler of Keyesport; three step sons: William Thurman and wife Barbara of Carlyle, Dennis Thurman and wife Rhonda of Fairview Heights and Rev. Bruce Thurman and wife Pat of Van Buren, Arkansas; three sisters: Joyce Bauer of Wisconsin, Brenda Hernandez and Linda Lowe of Texas; seventeen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thurman was preceded by a daughter: Cindy Marshall; and a grandson: Jacob Hill.
Barbara was an avid bingo player and enjoyed baking. Her favorite passion was being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thurman will be Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
