Leon H. Beckmann, 86 of Germantown, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Trenton Village in Trenton. He was born August 12, 1923 in Germantown, son of Fred and Christine (Albers) Beckmann. He married Johanna G. Mensing on June 4, 1946 in Germantown and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2002. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Fred, Jr.) Lucas of Albers and one son, Gary L. Beckmann of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Fred R. ( Deanna) Lucas III, Janel Lucas and Marshall Lucas; three great- grandchildren, Samuel Lucas, Benjamin Lucas and Hayley Lucas; two brothers, Fred (Dorothy) Beckmann of Germantown and Vernal (Nancy) Beckmann of Ballwin, MO; three sisters, Sue Kalmer and Leona Mueller of Germantown and Frances Kaatmann of St. Louis, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray Beckmann of Germantown, Leroy Mensing of Hoffman, Dennis and Marie Mensing of Breese and Evelyn Mensing of Germantown. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Beckmann; three sisters, Grace Meier, Florence Holtmann and Caroline Hagenhoff; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Catherine Beckmann, Vincent Meier, Norbert Kalmer, Charlie Mueller, Aloys Holtmann, Ed Hagenhoff, Harold Kaatmann, Florence Beckmann, Sally Mensing and Alfred Mensing. Mr. Beckmann was a self-employed truck driver for Moormans Feed. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and a former member of the church choir in Germantown. Leon had a gift for conversation and humor. He enjoyed talking to people and never knew a stranger. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Msgr. James Buerster officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese.
