Bertha Mae Smith

Bertha Mae Smith, nee Hardekopf of Bentonville, AR, formerly of Beckemeyer passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, AR. She was born May 31, 1936 in Breese the daughter of Otto and Mable (Erwin) Hardekopf. She Married William R. Thurman and later divorced. She married James Smith and later divorced.

Bertha is survived by three sons: William D. Thurman and wife Barbara of Carlyle, Dennis Thurman and wife Rhonda of Collinsville, and Rev. Bruce Thurman and wife Patricia of Van Buren, AR; two daughters: Angela Hill of Rogers, AR, and Joyce Smith of Hot Springs, AR; her brother Donald Hardekopf and wife Dixie of Dade City, FL; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters: Alice Walker, Ruby Ashley, Dorothy Welborn, and Margaret Kemp.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle. Burial will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11:00 AM at the Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Memorials in memory of Bertha are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
