Betty Jean Hodapp

Betty Jean Hodapp (née Davis), 102, of Carlyle, passed away on April 19, 2024, at Aviston Countryside Manor, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1921, in Petersburg, Indiana, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris, nee Hisgen, Davis. She married Dominic L. Hodapp July 27, 1942 in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1993.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Tom) Wendling of Coulterville, IL, and Pam (Rich) Huegen of O'Fallon, IL. Betty's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Laurie (Jeff) Craig of Millstadt, IL; Jerid Wendling of Carterville, IL; Jamie (Darrell) Hewlett of Germantown, IL; Jeff Huegen of Albers, IL; and Cara (Ray) Wendling-Schnettgoecke of Nevada, IA. Additionally, Betty is remembered by her great-grandchildren: Cassie Craig of Millstadt, IL; Justin Wendling (special friend, Kate Hagedorn) of Columbus, IN; Jacob Craig (special friend, Madison Hurd) of Millstadt, IL; Kamryn Hewlett of Germantown, IL;  Katelyn Wendling of New York, NY; Tyler Huegen of Albers, IL; Connor Schnettgoecke of Nevada, IA; Harper Schnettgoecke of Nevada, IA; and Piper Schnettgoecke of Nevada, IA. Her great-great-grandchildren Zella Barker, Aubree Huegen, and William Craig will also carry forth her memory.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dominic L. Hodapp; and her parents, Kenneth and Doris Davis.

Betty was known for her passion for dancing with her beloved husband and cherishing moments spent with her family.

There will be a private family service at a later date.

Memorials made in memory of Betty can be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax St., Carlyle, IL 62231 who is serving the family.
