Billhartz, Carol

Carol Ann Billhartz, 73, of New Baden, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born September 6, 1939 in New Baden, daughter of Henry A. and Ida (Singler) Billhartz. She is survived by a sister, Arlene (Hugo) Schulte of Belleville; sisters-in-law, Margie Billhartz of Breese, Pauline Billhartz of New Baden, Rita (Jim) Sullivan of Trenton; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Ella Mae Voss, Lucille Karpel, Norbert Billhartz, Vernon Billhartz, Bernard Billhartz, and Ralph Billhartz; brothers-in-law, Frank Voss and Robert Karpel; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Billhartz; and her friend Grace. Carol Ann was a care giver to her parents. She was a member of St. George Parish and Ladies Sodality and a former member of St. Damian Parish in Damiansville. She enjoyed gardening, canning and bingo. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. George Capital Campaign and will be received at the Church or Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden who is in charge of arrangements.
