Bobby Gene Jones

Bobby Gene Jones of Highland, Illinois died Thursday evening at Barnes/Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 76 years. He was born in Alton, Illinois on August 8, 1934 the son of James and Margaret (Brown) Jones. He married Connie Niggli in Belleville, Illinois on December 10, 1976 and she survives in Highland.

Bobby is also survived by his children: Tammy Boyd and husband Tom of Perry, Georgia, Peggy Karlovski and husband Matt of Trenton, Sheila Wiebler and husband John of Aviston, Illinois, Robin Enders and husband Robert of Rockford, Illinois and James Jones and wife Mary of Perry, Georgia; a sister: Shirley Downing and husband William of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Bobby served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Strong. He was a lifetime member of the Goldsmith-Terry VFW Post #3523 in Carlyle. He retired from the Welsh Company in Trenton where he was a forklift operator. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and New York Yankee fan.

In keeping with Bobby’s wishes, cremation services will be performed and private services will be held with the family.

Memorials are suggested in Bobby’s honor to the Make A Wish Foundation and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
