Brede, Lorene

Lorene Brede, 95 of New Baden, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. She was born May 30, 1914 in New Baden daughter of Clarence and Marie (Bann Haas) Warner. She married LeRoy C. Brede on August 29, 1933 in Christopher, IL and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1986. Lorene is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Swinney (Greg) Holtmann of New Baden; two sons, David (Kim) Brede of Trenton and Robert Brede of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Gene Haas of Junction City, IL; five grandchildren, Nancy (Kevin) Stine, Kerrie (Tim) Klein, Kellie (Phil) Kunz, Brent (Lisa) Brede, and Stacie (Jeff) Liening; two step grandchildren, Doug Davis and Donald Davis; and 11 great-grandchildren, Justin Stine, Cameron Stine, Casey Stine, Parker Liening, Mackenzie Liening, Philip Kunz, Brady Kunz, Chelsea Klein, Michael Klein, Nate Brede and Chloe Brede. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal E. Billhartz and Charlene Peters; a granddaughter, Vicki Swinney; and a son-in-law, James Swinney. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden, a member and past president of the Women’s Guild and a former Sunday School teacher; she was also a past president of the New Baden Women’s Club. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
