Rose Marie “Dolly” Brefeld, 92, of Trenton, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at University Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Edwardsville. She was born October 2, 1917 in Breese daughter of Henry & Rose (Kapp) Robben. She married Bernard V. Brefeld on February 25, 1941 in Breese and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2009. She is survived by her children, James (Michelle) Brefeld of Trenton, John (Peggy) Brefeld of Edwardsville, Jerome (Joyce) Brefeld of Trenton, Rosemarie (Steve Boemler) Brefeld of Clayton, MO, and Tony (Kate) Brefeld of Anthem, AZ; 10 grandchildren, six step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Robben of Breese; a step- brother, Eugene (Emma) Niemeyer of Breese; and a sister-in-law, Marie Brefeld of Trenton. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Robben; her step-mother, Elizabeth (Strake) Niemeyer- Robben; a step-brother, Charles “Nip” Niemeyer; two step-sisters, Florence Niemeyer and Kathryn Niemeyer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fern Robben, Dolores Robben, Gertrude Robben, Paul Brefeld, Dr. G.L. & Marge Brefeld, Aurelia & Harlan Glanzner, Geraldine Brefeld, Loretta Cope-Strake, Arthur Cope, Frank Strake, and Bernice & Herbert Kurz and step-sister-in-law, Agnes “Smitty” Niemeyer. Mrs. Brefeld was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Parish and Ladies Sodality in Trenton and the Belleville Elks Club. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Rev. Eugene Kreher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Trenton. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at the funeral home.
