Henrietta M. Broeckling, 91, of Albers, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Breese Nursing Home in Breese. She was born October 9, 1919 in Beaver Prairie daughter of Henry J. and Elizabeth M. (Dust) Seelhoefer. She married Edward H. Broeckling on April 7, 1948 in Beaver Prairie and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1989. Mrs. Broeckling is survived by nine children, Donald Broeckling of Pocahontas, Edward L. (Jeanette) Broeckling, David (Florence "Suz") Broeckling, and Jerome Broeckling all of Albers, Jane Lindauer of Springfield, Judy (Rich) Albers of Albers, Donna Mae (Dennis) Strubhart of Aviston, Mark Broeckling of Highland, and Tom (Lynn) Broeckling of Albers; 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Maue of Albers; a brother, Joseph F. (Pat) Seelhoefer of Jacksonville, FL; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Seelhoefer of Bartelso. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; three brothers, Alfred Seelhoefer, Bernard Seelhoefer, and Herman J. Seelhoefer; two sisters, Rosa Kahrhoff and Frieda Hoerchler; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ida Seelhoefer, Emma Seelhoefer, Raymond Kahrhoff, Arthur Hoerchler, Eugene Maue, and Rita Seelhoefer. Mrs. Broeckling was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality in Albers; American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary in Albers and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed quilting and playing bingo and cards. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
