Broeckling, Herman

Herman F. Broeckling, 91, of New Baden, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born July 26, 1916 in New Memphis, son of Herman B. and Clara (Santel) Broeckling. He married Annie A. Golsch on July 25, 1938 in New Baden and she preceded him in death on October 3, 1994. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Hass and husband Daniel of Albers and Mary Jane Peters and husband Norbert of New Baden; five grandchildren, Theresa (friend, Mark Lee) Bowlin, Deborah (Gary) Nelson, Greg (Tina) Haas, Sharon(fiance, Dale Renth) Haas, Jeff (Lynn) Haas; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Ruth Meyer of New Baden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Agnes Teague of St. Louis, MO, Rita Broeckling, Catherine and Adolph Hug, and Magdalene and George Wilken all of New Baden. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter A. Broeckling and Vincent Broeckling, in infancy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Amelia and Ray Haas, Elfrieda and Louis Reinhardt, and Mary and Alfred Fauke. Mr. Broeckling was a retired coal miner. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. There will be a prayer service Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
