Charles A. Brokering of New Baden, IL, departed this life at his residence on Sunday, February 6, 2011. He was born July 7, 1945, son of Kenneth and Caroline (Metz) Brokering and they both preceded him in death. He married Velma A. Uhring on January 3, 1970 and she survives in New Baden. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Glenn (Renee) Brokering of New Baden, IL and Daryl (Nicole) Brokering of Coulterville, IL; grandchildren, Tori, Trina, Lance, and Alyssa; brothers, Joe (Mary Ann) Brokering of New Baden, IL and David Brokering of Fair Grove, MO; sisters, Molly (Larry) Hood of Topeka, KS and Vicki (Lee) Loveday of Salem, MO; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Minnie Uhring of Mascoutah, IL; and a brother-in-law, Norman Uhring of Belleville, IL. Mr. Brokering was retired from St. Clair Service Company in Belleville, IL. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Kreher officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden, IL. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 321, New Baden, IL or to Tip Hospice, Centralia, IL and will be received at the funeral home.
