Bruce James Sterling, 47, of Mascoutah, died Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born December 2, 1969 in Belleville, the son of Clyde and Dorothy, nee Halterman, Sterling and they survive in New Baden. He married Lisa Schuler October 12, 1996 in New Baden and she survives in Mascoutah.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bruce is survived by his daughter, Bianca Sterling; his son, Zach Sterling; a sister, Colleen (John) Link of New Baden; a brother, Christopher (Patricia) Sterling of WI; nephews and nieces, John, Ashley, & Joey Link, and Alec & Madison Sterling; his uncle and aunt, Charles David & Pat Sterling of Belleville; and his beloved dog, Solomon.
Mr. Sterling retired from the Belleville Social Security Office after 22 years. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in O’Fallon and the Spina Bifida Association in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing video games, walking the dog, listening to music, watching movies, and playing cards – especially Euchre.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the 1st Baptist Church in New Baden. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden and again on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the 1st Baptist Church in New Baden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to the Spina Bifida of Greater St. Louis and will be received at the funeral home.
