Marcella H. Bruening, 80, of Breese, IL, died on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at her home. She was born on September 8, 1924 in Breese, daughter of Henry J. and Agnes E. (Maue) Bruening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Bruening and Paul Bruening; two sisters, Florence Holtgrave and Stella Bruening, in infancy; brother-in-law, Virgil Holtgrave; and one nephew, Michael Holtgrave, She is survived by one brother, Mark C. Bruening and wife Pat of O’Fallon, MO; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Bruening of Breese & Betty Bruening of Spanish Lake, MO; nephews & nieces, Jan Vranich and husband Ken of Arlington, VA, John Leitsch and wife Pat of St. Peters, MO, Chris Bruening and wife Donna of St. Peters, MO, Craig Bruening and wife Mary of O’Fallon, MO, Carey Bruening and wife Cindy of St. Peters, Mo, Carol Cadwallader and husband Larry of Lake St. Louis, Mo, Tim Bruening and wife Angela of Trenton, IL, Sheila Tarter and husband Jim of Belleville, IL and Matt Bruening and wife Heather of Swansea, IL; great nephews , great nieces & great great nephews & great great nieces; her special friends & neighbors, Tom, Marion, Laura & Allison Voss. Ms. Bruening was a retired secretary for Mallinckrodt Chemical Works. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Breese. A memorial mass will be held Friday, June 10, 2005 at 4 p.m. at St. Augustine Church in Breese with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at Hempen Funeral Home 150 North Clinton, Breese, IL 62230, who is in charge of arrangements.
