Brunker, Mary

Mary A. Brunker, 63, of New Baden, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. She was born March 8, 1950 in Eldorado, IL daughter of Bertis “Buck” and Flora Lee (Sheraden) Cartmill. She married Larry Brunker in Evansville, IN on August 30, 1969 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Flora Lee Cartmill of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Mike (Billie Jo) Brunker of New Baden, IL and Jeff (Crystal Anderson) Brunker of New Athens, IL; five grandchildren, Sally Jean Brunker, Timothy James Brunker, Emily Renee Brunker, Rachel Renee Brunker, and Charlie Joseph Brunker; a brother, John (Donna) Cartmill of Aurora, CO; step mother-in-law, Dorothy Brunker of Falmouth, KY; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Chris Brown and Steven Brunker all of Nashville, TN. In addition to her father and her husband she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wallace and Marion Brunker. She was employed as a shift manager by Army and Air Force Exchange Services Shopette at Scott Air Force Base for 36 years. Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel in St. Louis, MO. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clinton County Relay For Life and will be received at the funeral home.
