Carol Jean Moffitt, 72, of New Baden, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. She was born July 29, 1949 in New Baden, the daughter of Clemens Joseph and Viola Eleanor, nee Walthes, Jansen, Sr. She married Robert Moffitt October 2, 1981 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1985. Carol was then engaged to Bud Goebel and he passed away June 7, 2017.
Carol is survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Wocking, Clemens Joseph (Regina) Jansen, Jr., Constance Joyce “Connie” (Andrew) Collins, and Kelley Rae (Obie Sr.) Farmer; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Derek Scott) Cocke, Leslie (Doug) Jones, Ashley (Scott) Kopperud, Robert (Ricca) Wocking, Julie (Mike) Foster, William Wocking, Jamie (Jamie) Turner, Amanda (Gideon) Seaman, Ryan (Ashley) Turner, Obie (Staci) Farmer, Jessica (Sam) Clines, and Roger Farmer; great-nieces and nephews, Taron Cocke, Cory Peters, Dea Peters, Kooper Owen Jones, Trevor Kopperud, Spencer Kopperud, Jansen Kopperud, Grayson Kopperud, Taylor Wocking, Malachi Wocking, Riley Wocking, Mackenzie Foster, Mckayla Foster, Joseph Wocking, Josephine Turner, Hazel Turner, Violet Turner, Taylor Turner, Alexis “Lexi” Turner, Finnan Seaman, Aidan Seaman, Magdalene Seaman, Lucille Seaman, Emerson Farmer, Ella Farmer, Mitchell Farmer, Viola Elizabeth Cline, Brookley Watombe, Zariah Watombe, Emmory Peters, and Yazlyn Peters.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Joseph Jansen and Roger Dale Jansen; and a brothers-in-law, Robert Wocking and Mike Turner; and two great-nieces, Aliyah Skye Peters and Karsyn Olivia Jones.
Carol was Mrs. Claus every year for the Belleville parade and went to different schools and handed out candy canes to the kids. She worked at Fishers Restaurant in Belleville for 47 years and at SWIC College for 14 years. Carol was a member of St. George Parish; she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and playing bingo.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Clinton Manor Living Center and will be received at the funeral home.
