Carol Westman was born on April 4, 1934 to Wilson & Velma Williams in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
At 5 foot nothing, Mom was a force to be reckoned with. She survived raising 6 strong-willed, independent daughters. She was also a grandmother of ten, a great-grandmother of six (with two making their debut in 2019), and an extra joy to five sons-in-law. But we all knew her favorites were her cats Pete and TC.
Mom loved God and her Carlyle Christian Church family, especially serving cookies at the Wednesday lunch. She was a diehard Cubs fan and was thrilled to see the Cubs win the World Series. Mom spent countless hours at the library, she loved music (her favorite album being Meatloaf Bat out of Hell), coffee (boy did she ever love her coffee), and she had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Mom embraced technology, particularly texting, at times much to the chagrin of her family.
She’ll be greatly missed by, her daughters: Laura (John) Fauke of Carlyle, IL, Dee Cordell of Everett, WA, Wendy (Doug) Wilcoxon, Orlando FL, Gayle (Bill) Wohlert, McHenry, IL, Ellie (Ken) Chin, Franklin, TN, Jeanie (Andrew) Hanks, Augsburg, IL; grandchildren: Molli Fauke, Casey Fauke, Jake (Desirae Boxer) Wohlert, Tyler (Allie) Wohlert, Ali (Damon) Dziekan, Spencer (Tony Futch) Wilcoxon
Griffin (Valen) Wilcoxon, Lexi Hanks, Sam Hanks, Jensen Hanks, great grandchildren: Nick Weh
Hannah Weh, Kennedy Washburn, Caden Boxer, Owen Boxer, Addison Wohlert,
We can’t even count the number of people who considered her mom/grandma Carol. For being a shorty, her heart was huge.
On December 13, 2018 mom was greeted at the Pearly Gates by her parents, her infant son Bruce and her many beloved pets.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Carlyle Christian Church.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 until the time of services all at the Carlyle Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers we’re asking you to support two of our mom’s happy places, Carlyle Christian Church and Case-Halstead Public Library in Carlyle, Illinois and will be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
