Catherine G. Helfrich

Catherine G. Helfrich, age 87 of Beckemeyer passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 10, 1929 the daughter of William O. and Ruth A. (Woodring) Casagrande. She married George Schneider but they later divorced. On May 27, 1968 she married Roy A. Helfrich in St. Louis, Missouri. Roy preceded her in death on September 2, 2009.
In addition to her parents and her husband Roy, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bill Casagrande and Joe Casagrande; her sister: Theresa Lott; her sister-in-law: Marion Casagrande; brothers-in-law: Rod Thompson and O.C. Lott; and her son-in-law: Michael Hamilton.
Catherine is survived by her children, Mike (Joana) Schneider, Paul (Peggy) Schneider, Ruth Hamilton, Barb (Dave) Pullen, and Brian (Jan) Helfrich; 17 grandchildren: Amanda, Jeremy, Joshua, Zachary, Gabriel, Kate, Abigail, Jacob, Emily, Nicholas, Kelly, Nathan, Dave, Michael, Kevin, Melissa, and Christopher; 19 great grandchildren: Grace, Ally, Lainie, Carson, Henry, Haleigh, Liam, Ariana, Lane, Layla, Reese, Wyatt, Hunter, Landon, Summer, Jesse, Sammy, Gavin, and Wyatt; three sisters: Margaret (Charles) Kinworthy, Mary Thompson, Alma (Ferd) Zykan; and a sister-in-law: Wendy Casagrande.
Mrs. Helfrich had many hobbies, some of which included sewing, quilting, crocheting, and playing bingo. Catherine worked many years as a hairdresser in Beckemeyer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Per Catherine’s wishes all services will be private.
Memorials in honor of Catherine are suggested to Heartland Hospice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
