Charles G. Schuchman of Carlyle passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Countryside Manor in Aviston at the age of 86 years. Mr. Schuchman was born in Carlyle on February 3, 1928, the son of Clinton and Amelia (Luebbers) Schuchman. Charles married Nelda Anfang in Belleville on November 23, 1961, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 1994.
Charles is survived by his children: Tina Haas and husband Greg of Albers, Kim Kueper and husband Jim of Breese, Jeff Schuchman and wife Kelly of Germantown, and Brad Schuchman and wife Becky of Brighton; grandchildren: Alex Haas, Jeremy and Grant Kueper, Caydn and Kyler Schuchman, and Cale and Alyssa Schuchman; and sisters-in-law: Mildred Schuchman and Shirley Fitzgerald.
Schuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister: Marlene Oatley and husband Jim; brother: Bob Schuchman; sister-in-law: Rosemary Buss; and brother-in-law: Bob Fitzgerald.
Charles was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle where he served mass, Mater Dei High School Fathers & Friends Club, Knights of Columbus Council 1382 of Carlyle where he was a past officer. He previously served as a alderman for the City of Carlyle. Schuck served in the United States Army during the Korean
conflict and retired as the Fire Chief at Warren G. Murray Developmental Center in Centralia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Schuchman family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 4 until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 8 until 9:30 A.M. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at St. Mary Church on Friday evening at 7:00 P.M.
