Clarence Joseph Price, age 81, of Vandalia, formerly of Shattuc passed away at his home on Friday, November 17, 2017. Clarence was born in New Baden on December 3, 1935, the son of Clarence and Edna (Walthes) Price. He married Ruth Toeben at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden on June 3, 1958 and she survives in Vandalia.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son and seven daughters: Bernard (Kelly) Price of Carlyle, Barb (Scott) Untersee of Casa Grande, AZ, Brenda (Dee) Evans of Hoffman, Beverly (Rex) Blanding of Brentwood, MO, Bonita (Kelvin) Boehne of Centralia, Becky (Gerard) Luebbers of Carlyle, Beth (Steve) Jones of Pendelton, SC, and Belinda Price of Vandalia; twenty one grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; two brothers: Norman Herzing, and Paul (Judi) Herzing Both of New Baden; and a sister, Norma (Don) Krohn of Trenton; his in-laws: Mary Ann Poettker, Theresia Herzing, Myron (Betty) Mugele, Pat (Floyd) Sudholt, Bernard (Joan) Toeben, Jean (Ron) Gori, Kathy Lloyd, and Chip (Barb) Haag.
Mr. Price was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Pearl Allen and Shirley Wessel; his mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Bernard Toeben; his in-laws: Tom Allen, Arnold Wessel, Ray Herzing, Jim Poettker, and Judy Haag.
Clarence was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a member of Mother of Dolors Parish in Vandalia. He owned and operated Clarence Price Electrical in Shattuc before retiring. Mr. Price was also a member of the Shattuc Lions Club for over 40 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carlyle with full military honors accorded.
Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made for masses or for donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlyle or Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, or for donations to Fayette County Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
