Cleopha “Cleo” A. Lohman, 92, of Aviston, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born February 26, 1925 in Albers, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Gebhart) Athmer. She married Eugene H. Lohman December 26, 1945 in Trenton and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2006.
Cleo is survived by her children: Thomas E. (Jane) Lohman of Manhatten, KS, Patricia (Bernell) Huene of Breese, and Mary (Mike) Wagener of Collinsville; 6 grandchildren: Chad (Chris) Lohman, Jeremy (Beth) Lohman, Neil (Melanie) Huene, Eric (Kate) Huene, Nathan Haar, and Tim Haar; 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings:, Marilyn Hagen, Shirley Moss, and Donna (Jim) Elliott; her in-laws: Louise Athmer, Jeanette (Leo) Wolters, Mary Ann Grapperhaus, Marcella Netemeyer, and Florence Lohman.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Athmer and Cyril (Thelma “Timmy”) Athmer; a great-grandson, Colgin Tanner Lohman; her in-laws: Jerome Hagen, Arnie Moss, Alfred (Hellen) Lohman, Walter (Bert) Lohman, Harold (Dolores) Lohman, Anthony “Buck” Lohman, George Lohman, Arthur (Pauline) Lohman, “Rem” Grapperhaus, Harold Netemeyer, Pauline (Don) Bolk, Leola (Ed) Korte, and Dorella Lohman.
Cleo was a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston and longtime member of the St. Francis Ladies Sodality. She worked as a cook at Central High School in Breese. Mrs. Lohman loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Fr. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 and on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston.
