David H. Nettemeier

April 5, 1942 — January 29, 2023

David H. Nettemeier, age 80, of Aviston, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his
home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Breese, Illinois on April 5, 1942, the son of
Otto and Henrietta (Rohling) Nettemeier. He married Sharon Sanborn in Columbus, Ohio, on
December 26, 1964 and she survives in Aviston.

David was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of American Legion Post 1239 in
Aviston, and a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston. He was a Teamster member for 35
years. He worked as a truck driver hauling freight in St. Louis, Missouri for Bellm and TMX, and
later he hauled cars for Auto Convey and Allied Systems in Hazelwood, Missouri, retiring in
2000. He also enjoyed farming and retired from that in 2019.

David enjoyed driving anything from a tractor to a semi-truck. He especially enjoyed giving
tractor rides to his grandkids. He also loved to hunt, garden and spend time with his family and
friends. He always had a smile on his face and a Stag beer in his hand.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon Nettemeier; his daughters: Tina Bianconi
and husband Pete of Edwardsville, Illinois; Darlene Sanders and husband Mark of Houston,
Texas; Diane Sanders and husband Craig of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Tyler and
Jordyn Bianconi; Reagan and Landry Sanders; Brady, Colby & Holden Sanders. His brother,
Mike Nettemeier and wife Donna of Breese; brother-in-law, Dan Miller of Castalia, Ohio; and
many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and a brother, Jim Nettemeier; his mother-in-
law, Naomi (Smith) Sanborn, father-in-law, Robert W. Sanborn; brothers-in-law: Robert A.
Sanborn and Jeffrey Sanborn; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Miller; and his niece, Julie Miller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Aviston with full military honors accorded.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston and from 8:00 until 9:45 AM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston.

Memorials made in memory of David are suggested to Aviston American Legion, St. Francis Parish, American Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 150 North Clinton Street, Breese, IL 62230.
