Davis, Leona

Leona R. Davis, 84, of Beckemeyer, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born September 29, 1923 in Germantown, daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Richter) Husmann. She married Oliver Davis in Germantown on January 7, 1948 and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Davis and wife Ann of Aberdeen, MS , Don Davis of Beckemeyer, and Dean Davis of St. Louis MO; former daughter-in-law, Audrey Davis of Beckemeyer; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Bergetzi of Highland. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Davis was Homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony Parish and Ladies Sodality in Beckemeyer and the Padre PIO Prayer Group. A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Rev. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer. Friends may call Friday, March 7, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Parish Building Fund (stained glass window fund) and will be received at the Funeral home.
