Dorene Y. Palm of Hoffman died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese on July 1, 2013 at the age of 87 years with her family by her side. Dorene was born on February 24, 1926 in Lake Township, Clinton County, Illinois, the daughter of John and Mabel (Camp) Wilkey. She married Victor Palm on May 1, 1949 in Posey, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1986.
Dorene was also preceded in death by her parents; parent-in-law: Otto and Anna Palm; brother: Daniel Wilkey; and a son-in-law: Gregg Foster.
Mrs. Palm is survived by her children: David Palm and wife Carol of Carlyle, Cynthia Storment of Olney, Deb Foster of Hoffman and Mark Palm and wife Kay of Hoffman; grandchildren: Chet Foster and wife Laurie, Derek Foster and wife Tracie, Eric Palm, Shawn Palm, Melanie Cook, Jeff Palm, Heather Wheeler and husband Klay, Rachel and husband Brock Henson, Josh and Lee Ann Storment; great grandchildren: Kristen and Jenna Foster, Josh Wesselmann, Jake, Kayle and Trenton Wheeler, Taylor Brown, Ella Gaco, Cole, Coty, and Jack Storment and Gia Foster; her brother: Kenneth Wilkey
Dorene enjoyed working with her husband and being a farm wife. She enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. She was known for sending cards to everyone she liked. She enjoyed talking on the phone and going out with her friend Barb and meeting with the lunch group.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Palm family on Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church from 8:00 A.M. until the time of services.
For those that wish to leave a memorial, the family suggests the American Heart Association and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle which is surviving the family.
