Dorothy J. “Dot” Boeckman, age 84, of Breese passed away at the Villas of St. James on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. She was born in Trenton on July 16, 1935 the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Vollet) Quitmeyer. She married Roger Boeckman in Trenton on September 5, 1960 and he survives in Breese.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her three sons: Brian Boeckman and wife Julie, Brad Boeckman and wife Karen, and Brent Boeckman and wife Jackie all of Breese; five grandchildren: Dylan Boeckman and wife Jessica, Rachel Boeckman and fiancé Aaron Timmermann, Amanda Boeckman and special friend Hugh Trickel, Luke Boeckman, and Amy Boeckman; a sister, Leola Holzinger of Highland; brother and sister in laws: Howard and Bonnie Boeckman, Jody Boeckman, and Mary Anne Quitmeyer-Pudney.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother, Joseph Quitmeyer; four sisters: Rita Haas and husbands Leroy “Shorty” Haas and Carl Welker, Alice Kuhl and husband Robert, PHJC Stella Quitmeyer, Edith Shoemaker and husband Charles “Red”; and brother-in-law Edward Holzinger.
Dorothy grew up in Trenton and moved to Breese in the early 1970’s. She was a 1953 graduate of the Aviston Community High School. She worked for the U.S. Army Aviation System Command in St. Louis for 12 years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, and the Breese American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling, playing cards, watching Cardinals baseball, and dancing, especially to polkas, waltzes, and the jitterbug.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Everyone is required to wear a mask if attending mass. Please call 618-791-0069 to register for a seat in church.
