Dorothy L. "Dottie" Salustro

Dorothy L. “Dottie” Salustro, 80, of New Baden, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at her home. She was born July 12, 1936 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Seico) Melluzzo. She married John Salustro November 19, 1955 in Hartford, CT, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1977.

She is survived by her loving companion since 1980, Denis J. Billhartz of New Baden; her daughters, Linda Wallace of Columbia, Anita (John) Lang of Mascoutah, Carla (Richard) Novak of Troy, and Johnna Lombardo of Mascoutah; grandchildren, Shelley Yon, John Wallace, Miranda Lang, Charlotte Lang, Jessica (David) Meurer, and Craig (Lauren) Norrenberns; great-grandchildren, Caedance Wallace, Nolan, Morgan, Weston Meurer, and Wade Norrenberns ; a brother, Sebastian (Linda) Melluzzo of Kettering, OH; a sister, Gloria “Ginger” (Ralph) Robinson of Enfield, CT; a brother-in-law, Angelo Salustro; and her best friend, Catherine “Kitty” Lanter of Mascoutah.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalie Andre and Grace Manginelli; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Andre and Mike Manginelli.

Mrs. Salustro was a hairdresser in her younger days; in later years, Dorothy worked at the Scott Air Force Base Elementary Schools and the Naturalizer Shoe Store at St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden.

Private burial was held at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
