Mrs. Sheets devoted her life to Jesus Christ in 1939 at the age of 8 years at the First Pentecostal Church of Carlyle on the corner Livingston and 2nd, where she also met her husband. She attended several other churches through the years where she volunteered in any capacity needed. In 1995 she opened her home to establish the Way of Life Church of Carlyle, her lifelong dream. Way of Life is currently constructing its new church building, a testimony to the faithfulness of June Sheets.
She was a devoted mother who gave her children a home built on love, honor, and respect. She made all of her children and grandchildren feel like they were her favorite. She opened her home to all people from all walks of life. A gifted artist, she was well known for her cooking, sewing, painting, and poetry. She prepared large meals and everything was always perfect. She specialized in fried chicken and apple pie. She had an open door, an open table, and an open heart. A virtuous woman, June Sheets listened intently, spoke softly, loved deeply, gave extravagantly, and lived abundantly. Today she is with the Lord.
