Clyde E. Dorries 72, of Breese, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home. He was born September 28, 1941 in Breese, son of Lewis B. and Florence I. nee Wehrmann Dorries. He married Patricia A. Tierney on July 25, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle and she survives in Breese. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Dorries and his wife Jill of O’Fallon and their children, Joshua Dorries, Jason Dorries and Joelle Dorries; Christopher Dorries and his wife Chris of Breese and their children, Elizabeth Dorries and Ellyn Dorries; Craig Dorries and his wife Cami of Breese and their children, Connor Dorries, Carson Dorries and Cooper Dorries; a brother, Robert Dorries and his wife Marilyn of Houston, TX; two sisters, Carole Murphy and her husband James of Kirkland, IL and Joyce Dorries of Breese; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Hale and her husband Dean of Champaign, IL and James Tierney of Chicago; father-in-law, Carl Ackmann of Breese; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael J and Mary Tierney Ackmann. Mr. Dorries was a 4th generation lifelong employee/dealer of Breese Motor Sales and was owner since 1977. The 100 year Ford dealership began on September 28, 1913. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese, the Breese Jaycees, a member and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Breese Lions Club, a member and former president of the Breese Chamber of Commerce, board member and president for 25 years of Central High School in Breese, member of Trenton Lodge 109, Scottish Rite, Ainad Shrine, and the Breese Historical Society. His hobby was working but he liked spending time boating at Carlyle Lake and he adored his children and grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese with Pastor Matthew Goetz officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese and from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the church. The Breese Fire Department will visit at 6:30 p.m., the Breese Lions Club at 7:00 p.m. and the Trenton Lodge 109 at 7:30 p.m. all Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Breese Lions Scholarship Fund or Hannah’s Playground and will be received at the funeral home.
