George W. Eaton, 72, of Breese, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born August 16, 1936 in Breese. He married Betty Ann Robke on January 18, 1958 in Germantown and she survives in Breese. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Craig Eaton of Maryville, Lisa (Roger) Ball of Springfield, and Kelly Toennies of O’Fallon; his grandchildren, Ericka, Anna, Evan, Drew and Tia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lu and Roger Thien of Breese, and Jim and Barb Robke of Aviston. He was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt who raised him, George and Vivian Hertenstein; a brother, Francis "Fronk" Eaton; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Veronica Robke. Mr. Eaton retired in 1999 from National Steel, formerly Granite City Steel, as a Control Specialist. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. Dominic Church in Breese with Rev. Ben Stern officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) or to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
