Edith E. Short of Carlyle died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 93 years. She was born in Huey, Illinois on March 5, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Davenport) Simms. She married Clyde E. Short on March 27, 1938 in Carlyle, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1979.
Edith was also preceded in death by her parents; son: Bill Short; sons-in-law: Charles Taylor and Bill Burnett; sisters: Dorothy (Howard) Donaldson, Grace (Judson) Copple, Beulah (Leroy) Blackwell; brothers: Leonard (Mabel) Simms and Robert (Mary) Simms; brother-in-law: George Koch; and sisters-in-law: Eileen (Gail) Crocker and Alabeth (Walter) Reitemeyer.
Edith is survived by three daughters: Barbara Placek and husband Jack
of Beckemeyer, Margie Taylor of Carlyle; and Edna Nalefski and husband Dick of Breese; a sister: Muriel Koch of Carlyle; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Mrs Short had worked at the Wee Walker Shoe Factory, later the Trimfoot Company in Carlyle.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Short family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday April 17, 2012 from 10 until 11:00 am.
